We're proud to announce CareSuper CEO, Julie Lander, has been named Fund Executives Association Limited (FEAL) 2022 Fund Executive of the Year.

The award recognises Julie’s outstanding leadership, passion for the profit-to-member superannuation industry and commitment to improving the retirement outcomes of CareSuper members as well as all Australians. It also recognises Julie's innovative mindset and ability to grow the Fund. Julie was nominated by the CareSuper executive team and Chair and competed against other super fund CEOs and executives through a rigorous selection process.

When Julie joined CareSuper in 2001, we were a team of 20 staff and had $1B in funds under management (FUM). Under Julie's leadership, we’ve grown to almost 200 staff and we’re responsible for $20B in FUM on behalf of 220,000 members. Today, CareSuper is one of Australia’s leading super funds, having delivered strong return outcomes for members with lower risk over decades and earning many awards along the way. And as an Industry SuperFund, we’re only run to benefit our members — we don’t have shareholders, we keep fees and costs low, and our financial planners don’t receive incentives to sell you advice.

FEAL Chair Brian Delaney said Julie has been an exceptional leader and over the last few years as the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected the workplace and member expectations.

"Providing the best possible service to members whilst contributing to positive changes in the super industry more broadly makes her the perfect recipient of this award," he said.

When accepting the award, Julie said, "it is an honour and very humbling to have even been nominated for this award, let alone winning it."

"As CEO of CareSuper, I have been supported by executives, management, staff and directors both past and present to deliver on our purpose and objectives. So I do look on this award as one for the team because no one achieves by themselves."

We congratulate Julie on this well-deserved award.
