Our Direct Investment option explained

Want to know more about our Direct Investment option (DIO) and why it might be worthwhile for your clients? Read on as we explain the features and benefits of this investment option.

What is the DIO?

The DIO is designed for members who want to play an active role in managing their super. It allows members to invest up to 85% of their CareSuper account balance in a range of:

  • S&P/ASX 300 shares
  • exchange traded funds (ETFs)
  • listed investment companies (LICs)
  • term deposits
  • cash

The DIO offers members more flexibility and choice about how their super is invested. It’s managed through an online portal provided by FNZ.

Members who invest in this option have access to Morningstar research and reporting through FNZ’s intuitive and mobile-friendly portal. Eligibility conditions and fees apply to the DIO and we’ve outlined more details on our website.

Who is the DIO most suitable for?

The extra flexibility and control the DIO provides may be appealing to clients who are interested in an SMSF but perhaps don’t meet the criteria.  Since all the investing happens within their CareSuper account, there’s less hassle and complexity.

What ETFs are available through the DIO?

There are currently 46 different ETFs available, covering a broad range of sectors and markets that aren’t always readily available through our Pre-mixed and Asset class options. We regularly review the ETF selection and will keep you and your clients informed when we update the list.

Recent changes to our DIO

We have recently transitioned our Direct Investment option (DIO) to a new platform provider, FNZ (Australia) Pty Limited, marking a significant enhancement in the way members can manage their superannuation investments. This strategic move aims to provide members with a more intuitive, mobile-friendly interface, empowering them to take a more active role in managing their retirement savings.

If you require further information or assistance in integrating the DIO into client strategies, please contact your Business Development Manager (BDM).
