Investment Corporate Governance

CareSuper is increasingly concerned about promoting effective corporate governance practices in companies in which it invests and to avoid the risk inherent in corporate governance failure. The Trustee of CareSuper has appointed various specialist fund managers to invest assets, on behalf of the fund and therefore its members. The fund managers are responsible for progressing CareSuper’s responses on corporate governance issues as well as exercising voting rights on behalf of CareSuper.

The Trustee gives voting instructions to the fund managers and all voting attached to or consequent upon any investment held on behalf of CareSuper will be exercised. The Trustee bases its voting instructions on the Australian Council of Super Investors (ACSI) guidelines, which are closely followed by the fund. ACSI provides CareSuper with independent research, information and recommendations in relation to good corporate governance practices.
